Encyclopedia Brown - Boy Detective

Today, I read the book Encyclopedia Brown - Boy Detective by Donald J. Sobol.  My mom got it for me from the library.  It's my favorite book!  It is about a boy named Leroy Brown, but the kids at school usually call him Encyclopedia because he is really smart like a detective.  Usually, I start reading a book and I can quit when I want to, but, with this book, I could not put it down.  There is a case in every chapter.  I love mysteries.  I finished this in an hour and a half---my fastest time yet to complete a book!   I think it is the best book ever!

Aunt Linda's Gingerbread Houses

I am sorry but this post came out late.  My mom's Aunt Linda makes these wonderful gingerbread houses.  She makes her own frosting and even her own gingerbread!  Aunt Linda makes two sometimes three story gingerbread houses.  She even makes the little details in the houses.  Aren't they amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Snow in Longview

Today it snowed in Longview.  I went outside to play.  I threw a snowball in the air, but most of the time, I was clearing the sidewalk with my shoe.  While I was outside, the mail lady drove by and gave us some mail and then she tried to drive off to give the mail to the other people on the street.  I dont think that she had winter tires on the mail car because there was slush on the road and she was stuck.(Mom: we don't have winter tires in the south!-hehe!)  My cousin and I watched as she tried to get unstuck from the slush.  It took a few minutes until she was free.  She drove a few feet away from where she was and then she got stuck again!  So I told my dad to come help.  He and my cousin helped push the car away.  It was so funny!!!

My aunt and uncle, who live in Washington, D.C,, gave

legos in the box, but the rest, Mark and I did.

Personal Narrative - by Katie Bull

Busted Lip

"Come on Katie, we don't want to be late," My mom instructed me.  "I'm coming!" I said.  We     were going to the gymnastics place for my third birthday party.  I held my moms hand on the way into the party.  "Hi Katie!" everybody said at once.  "Hey!" I shouted back.  I started laughing and playing with my friends.  We slid down the slide and we jumped into a pool of balls.  While we were playing, I rushed up the stairs to the slide, I slipped and busted my lip right open.  It hurt a lot.  Mr. Randy thought I would need stitches.  So, I went to the hospital.  The doctor looked at my lip.  He said "It will be ok, but it will be swollen for a few days."  They gave me a little stuffed puppy dog that I named Gate because it looked like a brown gate.  As soon as I got back, it was time to eat my cupcakes.  Since my lip was swollen, it hurt I ate them.  They tasted so good!  I went home after that.  It was a lot of fun!!!

The Legend of an answered prayer by Katie and Karen

Answered Prayers

Once upon a time, in Minnesota, lived a mother named Joanne and her 10 year old daughter named Mary.  They secretly lived in the nurse’s room at Mary school where Ms. Joanne was the nurse.  They couldn’t afford to live elsewhere.  Mary’s father died four years ago from complications of surgery.  The hospital bills and funeral costs were taking a lot of their money.  They lived very meagerly, with barely enough to eat.

One day, they found themselves out of food.  Ms. Joanne then told Mary, “I will check my pocket to see if we have enough money to buy some dinner.”  Joanne looked surprised when she couldn’t even find one penny.  Mary was sad so she went to a corner where she had spent some time with God and prayed.  “Lord, I know that you can work miracles so I want to ask for a loaf of bread and some milk, Amen.”   She then went about her business knowing she could trust the Lord with her life.

About an hour later, they heard the door open and they saw a man carrying a grocery sack.  He walked in and said, “Hi, my name is Jerry, and I am a substitute here, and I was praying this morning and felt I should bring this with me today.”  Mary’s eyes widened and she peeked inside the bag.  She exclaimed, “ I prayed for a loaf of bread and milk and here it is!!!”  Jerry smiled, knowing that he was used by God that day.  They all decided to thank God for providing for their needs in a beautiful way.  Little did they know that day, but Joanne and Jerry would then start to date, and later marry.  They were never hungry again and they moved out of the school into a quaint little home down the street.

the sun and the moon - my dimonate poem

Sun
bright, yellow
rising, shining, heating
sunrise, sunset, moonbeams, night
appearing, changing, glowing
white, cool
Moon

Snowflakes- My Sense Poem

Snowflakes
Looks like white little shapes in the air
Sounds like crunchy footsteps walking on snow
Tastes like droplets of water on my tongue
Smells like the cool ice above my head
Feels like soft wet snow under my feet

My Clay Mario World

Mark, Melissa, my cousin Luke, and I are planning to build a 1 foot 8 inch clay Mario World.  It is a lot of work, but we are going to work hard to make the best Mario World that we can build.  We are going to get a lot of clay so we can build it.  It will probably take about a year or so, but we are determined.
I will show the picture of the MW when we are finished, hopefully sooner than later!
